AISINDO Workshop: “How to Develop an Interactive Teaching Media Easily & Fun?”

JavaWorkshops1Programming is an important skill for those who learn computing. Yet, most students perceive that Programming is one of the scariest subjects. Moreover, lecturers and teachers could not find how to make programming easy and fun.

Addressing this issue, on 23rd September 2014 at the “Pasca Sarjana” Building ITS-Surabaya, AISINDO and ORACLE Academy organized a free workshop for AISINDO members and universities and SMK in Indonesia titled “How to easily create an interactive learning media by using the Greenfoot”.

Attending by 130 participants from more than 50 universities and schools, the first session of the workshop teach how to develop a game application easily using Greenfoot application. Before the workshop began, the AISINDO staff helped participants to install the applications in every participant’s laptop. When everyone were ready with their systems, the instructor (Mr. Hatma) showed how to create the interactive learning media step-by-step and all participants enthusiastically followed the instructions very well.

In the second session, Mr. Krishna Sistla (the Senior Director – Oracle Education Initiative, Asia Pacific & Japan) presented the success stories of other countries in teaching programming courses and explained how to get free computing courses and resources by joining AISINDO and Oracle Academy. Further, Mrs. Nurul Huda (the Program Coordinator – Oracle Education Initiative) explained the benefits for joining the next events hosted by AISINDO and Oracle Academy.

Most of the participants expressed positive feedback about the workshop and asked for more opportunities to join for the next workshops/events. Indeed, this workshop is just beginning, in 2014 and 2015 AISINDO and Oracle Academy have prepared a regular free computing workshops for universities and SMK in Indonesia. Interested to join?
